What would happen if you mixed human and animal DNA in an embryo?

Mixing chromosomes from two separate species is inviable. 1) the number of chromosomes is different for most species which is inviable in itself 2) the genes themselves encode for different things between the species, also inviable 3) Mammals are very complex genetically, it is very difficult/impossible to manipulate their genomes to this extent. Human beings and chimpanzees are nearly identical genetically. Yet, combining their genomes would most definitely fail.
